Pastor Bobby M. Richmond, 88, of Centerpoint, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly, on April 19, 2022.
Bobby was born on March 20, 1934, in Huntington, Arkansas, the son of Charles and Orvilla (Cummins) Richmond. He graduated from Mansfield High School in Arkansas and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. He earned a master’s degree in education and taught mathematics. During this time, he began seeking his true passion in ministry. He served as a teacher and pastor, simultaneously, for a few years before dedicating his full attention to ministering to others. His desire to serve the Lord began at the age of 15 when he devoted his life to serving Christ. He studied at Southwestern Assemblies of God, the University of Central Arkansas, and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. Pastor Richmond was ordained with the Assemblies of God and served at various churches including Leesville, Louisiana, Victory Christian Church in Terre Haute, and most recently with his son, Pastor Larry Richmond in Brazil, Indiana, during his 65 years of active ministry. Pastor Richmond described himself as a “rightwing, Bible thumpin’, conservative” who loved good preachin’. Bobby was a voracious reader and enjoyed cooking and traveling. One of his favorite accomplishments outside of his ministry was restoring a 1930 Model A. For a period of time, he served as Dean of Students at the Jimmy Swaggart Bible College.
Bobby is survived by his wife Margaret T. (Bonds) Richmond; two sons: Pastor Larry Richmond and wife Glenda of Clay City, Indiana and Ken Richmond and wife Denise of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren: Shawna (Martin) Thomas, Tiffany (Chris) Jennings, Wes (Sarah) Camp, Ryan (Ashley) Camp, Gus (Dee) Camp, Angie Camp, Kaleb (Lucy) Richmond, and Tayler Richmond; 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family member, parishioners, and friends.
